The Canon EOS EF 50mm lens, called the “Nifty-fifty” by most yearbook advisers, is a beloved lens every staff should own.

Every staff should own this lens. It’s that good.

Advantages

  • Low cost
  • Great resolution
  • Wide aperture for low-light photography
  • Can be used with a mirrorless camera if you have the EF to RF adaptor.

Disadvantages

  • It does not provide “reach” for football and soccer.
